seventhheart Delightfully theatrical, wonderfully over-the-top, and heavily conceptual, fans of bands like The Dear Hunter do *not* want to miss out on Black Dime Cabaret.
Every track has its own identity, and it all comes together to make a fantastic romp through a story of a French town overrun by witches, just in time for Spooky Season.

If you like brass-heavy prog rock, or, honestly, just good music in general, do yourself a favor and give BDC a listen. Favorite track: The Great Manipulator.

hold your cards close to your chest. don’t trust the other side. it’s hard to know the honest truth when all you hear are their lies. the curtain opens on an election and a clown, clouded in hearsay and rumour. the art of redirection he has to perfection. a thousand eyes keep watch on his town. and oh! look what you’ve done. look what you have created. the children beg in the street, never to be liberated. oh the loneliest hearts endure, left behind in the filth and debris. here the plague rats relentlessly feast. embrace the unrest and unease. the man with the raven face gives his life to those so desperately in need. but nefarious plans he holds for those embracing lust and greed. and oh! look what you’ve done. look what you’ve created. the children beg in the street, never to be liberated. and oh! how delightful. the chaos you leave in your wake. the future seems so frightful. we fall to our knees and quake. hold your cards close to your chest. no one is safe anymore. not clown, nor raven, nor lady in the dark. those elected will meet their demise. oh! look what you’ve done. look what you have created. the children beg in the street, never to be liberated. and oh! how delightful. the chaos you leave in your wake. the future seems so frightful. we fall to our knees and quake

what is it that you see at night? strange figures come to you that might just be the makings of another world, that you have yet to explore. what is this brand new place unlike the world from which I’ve come? I’ve been told I might be more useful here, than where I’ve been before but what does that mean? hinting in the dark, scratching at the door. don’t open up to them, what they have in store - no. flicker in your mind, tearing at the seams. can’t escape, they’ll find you in your dreams. enter the black dime cabaret. we’ll give you quite a show. whether you stay or we’ll let you leave, it’s not for you to know. people are dying in the streets but from the politicians not a peep. what did we do to deserve this fate? this silent death does not debate. laughter in his wake but eyes so sad. are you part of this cabaret act, or am I mad? is it my future that you see? clown, what do you want from me? now they’re getting close, scratching at the door. don’t open up to them, what they have in store - no. steal your sanity, leave you in a state. get out while you can, hope it’s not too late. enter the black dime cabaret. we’ll give you quite a show. whether you stay or we’ll let you leave, it’s not for you to know. enter the black dime cabaret. we’ll give you quite a show. whether you stay or we’ll let you leave. it’s not for you to know

Autumn 05:34
look at you: ragged and pale yet still so beautiful. oh, here’s something new. rags to riches, you were no one and now the world knows you. dear girl, the healer yet no one was there to fix you. we’ve found you now. take my hand, this world is your home, it’s waiting for you. oh~ follow me, dancing along these streets as the autumn breeze fills the air. and when the music ends you will still be my friend. stroll with me under the golden trees as the chimney smoke fills the air. now we’ll lay in the sun before the cold winds come. oh~ look at you: bright eyes that hide a dark past. so cautious and curious. things you’ve seen that can’t be forgotten so easily. oh girl, you’ve been so brave. you’ve come so far alone now. let us hold you and heal you, there’s nothing to fear anymore. oh~ follow me, dancing along these streets as the autumn breeze fills the air. and when the music ends you will still be my friend. stroll with me by the clear blue stream. see it ebb and flow just like the way your fortunes change in life. now we’ll lay in the sun before the cold winds come. oh~ come dear, your soul is lost and broken. dear child, we’ll hold you close and strong. tonight the kerosene burns brightly. rest your eyes as the nights grow long. you’re where you belong. oh~ follow me, dancing along these streets as the autumn breeze fills the air. and when the music ends you will still be my friend. stroll with me under the golden trees. so free and oh so fair, swaying in the chimney air. now we’ll lay in the sun before the cold winds come. oh~

tonight, witness the festival. under the lights, we saw a miracle. upon every street they dance, laughter and joy abound. but evil things lie beneath this blissful town. so light the lanterns, light the torches, it is all the same. as long as in the end there’s always someone who’s to blame. yet underneath this bright facade we share the same fate. so drink up, dance, enjoy the party till you can’t see straight. join us, join us. come join us now and see the dance of the damned. come now behold the wicked, see what they have planned. whoa! hey! whoa! now she ventures deeper in, into the night’s deadly festivities. the music’s necromance makes her dead heart dance. here there’s nothing left to sway her, now she’s lost. so light the lanterns, light the torches, it is all the same. as long as in the end there’s always someone who’s to blame. yet underneath this bright facade we share the same fate. so drink up, dance, enjoy the party till you can’t see straight. join us, join us. come join us now and see the dance of the damned. come now behold the wicked, see what they have planned. all this mayhem thinly hides. their civilities they’ll cast aside. bloodthirsty, let the rampage begin. the lady’s patience wears thin. come join us now and see the dance of the damned. come now behold the wicked, see what they have planned. whoa! hey! whoa!

gazing through the glass. patiently awaiting the crowds. she sings soulful lies. poisoned the matriarch. take this coin and drink her wine. candlelight meets auburn hair. when she stands upon the parapet. orchestral swells fill the ballroom. death waltz for the smitten souls. lady midnight orchestrates the tragic feast. painted portraits of dead royalty sold to highest bidder. masqueraders parade these rich palace grounds. trading wine for bloodstains on clean, velvet carpet. she glides from sight with the hint of a smile. candlelight meets auburn hair. when she stands upon the parapet. orchestral swells fill the ballroom. death waltz for the smitten souls. lipstick stains on dead men. cold fingers trace pale flesh. she’ll drag you close and whisper. come to me, child. taste the wine, child. oh won’t you stay. don’t walk away. lady midnight orchestrates the tragic feast. painted portraits of dead royalty sold to highest bidder. masqueraders parade these rich palace grounds. trading wine for bloodstains on clean, velvet carpet. candlelight meets auburn hair. when she stands upon the parapet. orchestral swells fill the ballroom. death waltz for the smitten souls. lady midnight orchestrates the tragic feast. painted portraits of dead royalty sold to highest bidder. masqueraders parade these rich palace grounds. trading wine for bloodstains on clean, velvet carpet. we drink the wine, she vanishes from sight. her lips were painted like the knife. words sung softly: where’s your heart? where’s your heart? where’s your heart, lonely child?

places, people. hands grasp the papers on the stand. they sing, “what a tragic circumstance we’re in.” despite reports of a witch in the wings, i’m led to believe it’s politically tinged. poor man found dead with a noose around his neck. poor man found dead and it’s getting out of hand. poor man found dead with a noose around his neck. poor man found dead, dead, dead, dead, dead. there’s a nefarious scheme to murder witches but look at them all, imagine this: that some are far worse. colluding, extorting and hiding behind a raven mask. oh, will they be laughing when it’s burning to the ground? will they laugh when the rats and the vermin escape and midnight’s just moments away? hide the body, drink the wine. there’s a nefarious scheme to murder witches but look at them all, imagine this: destruction of france, famine, infection, distrust in the name of a mad, wicked man. oh, will they be laughing when it’s burning to the ground? will they laugh when the rats and the vermin escape and midnight’s just moments away? dear raven man, take this letter, remember a tyrant was born in the gutter. oh, tonight she will be blind as the ballroom comes alive

Death Waltz 02:57
take my hand, dance now, live tonight like it’s all we have. the ballroom comes alive! take my hand, waltz now, dance tonight. now death is close at hand. here into the ballroom... warm arms, they pull me in. he’s there before me, eyes as dark as sin. take my hand, dance now, live tonight like it’s all that we have. take my hand, waltz with me, dance tonight. the coffin lid is closing. take my hand, dance now, sing tonight. now death is close at hand. casually drifting towards a sea of stars. he glides across to meet me, and we’re soaring through the air. in the space between hearts that yearn for one of them to burn before the night grows cold. she’s innocently blind to the world that left her behind. a love such as this would never endure. a love such as this would never and never and- take my hand, dance now, live tonight as the full moon rises. take my hand, waltz with me until the break of day. undercover, here no longer. she is smitten, fates rewritten. anticipation, great elation, fabrications, incantations. you’re running out of time, time, midnight! he’s not welcome here. don’t give him your heart
9.
where is your heart, lonely child? see not the innocence you’ve defiled. don’t let his charming fool you. he lusts for blood to undo. be on your guard I warn you. be strong and bid him adieu. don’t let his charming fool you. he lusts for blood to undo. don’t let him drag you under. we’ll all be torn asunder. dagger plunged has found its mark. the candle snuffed out now in darkness. wistful melody still heard of one most powerful ripped from this world. “he’s the one who killed lady midnight! he’s the one who killed lady midnight!” dancers twirling blissfully unaware of their witch queen in despair. esoteric callings from on high. now on my command we will rise. before he comes to take his dues. my precious child you must refuse. no mercy for you, raven man. slain the lady by your own hand. the hoards will shout with glee and mirth, as wickedness is driven from this earth. bells will toll. witches rise. swiftly moving toward their demise. dagger plunged has found its mark. the candle snuffed out now in darkness. wistful melody still heard of one most powerful ripped from this world. smoke will rise and curl in time as in the sky the full moon rises. take my hand and twirl in line and dance the death waltz one last time. “all of these nefarious schemes, brought about by my own hand. with good intent, they were meant to cleanse this cursed land. as I flee, is it she? an apparition or trick of light, or figment of my guilty mind? she smiles and glides from sight...”
10.
death to the one with no mercy in her eyes. embers will fill the air like fireflies. they’re lighting the torches. oh how violence takes the mind. “they do not know what they have done.” storm the manor, seize the cabaret, drag the poisoned to the pyre. let their bodies fuel the fire! grab your rope and stone and knife. spare no regard for the waste of human life. they’re joining in numbers. to take to the streets. feathers ruffled in the chaos, the raven smiles. how could a man so righteous be so blind? oh see it now, what has our society come to? no trials for the innocent, just murder for show. lady justice is blind to their useless cries for help. bathed in the flames, the martyred will rise. death to the one spitting curses to the sky. with filth like her we will identify. they’re braiding the nooses. tensions alight. “they do not know what they have done.” dislodge your axes, take a hatchet, all together now we’ll find another place to bury them tonight. break down the doors of those who stand to defy you. no questions are asked when holy power is on your side. now cleanse this town of the evil in its heart. the witches will run as they’re called out by name. now all is ashes. they never stood a chance against the raging masses. now we have the black dime cabaret. they will do no harm again. now we have the black dime cabaret. they will do no harm again. oh, won’t you look what you have done. stand on the edge, look down at the city below you. burning bright as wickedness is sent to meet its fate. the one who caused this slips away into the night. as ghosts escape into the sky
11.
Sleep, Dear 01:21
sleep, dear. be still, dear. you’re safe here for now. there’s beauty in madness. you’ll find it somehow. we’ve answered your prayers, dear. your longing for belonging. so stay here with us, dear. and wake to life anew
12.
Incantations 05:34
ghostly figures swirl round you. careful not to lose your head. haunted voices call your name. soon you will be dead. no one can save- you are lost in- aberration incantations. the plan is now unfolding, the story’s just begun. you thought this was the end? oh~ the path is ancient. great things lie ahead for you. we knew it from the start and so did you. free your mind, we are coming for you. hey! hey! cannot hide, we are coming for you. free your mind, we are coming for you. hey! hey! nowhere to hide, we are coming for you. hey! free your mind, we are coming for you. hey! hey! cannot hide, we are coming for you. hey! hey! free your mind, we are coming for you. hey! hey! incantation, incantation, incantation, incantation, incantation, incantation, incantation, incantation. no one can save- you are lost in- aberration incantations. go towards the darkness. power grows inside of you. feel it in your soul. abandon the earth. trade the sunlight for shadow. the dime has you now. nowhere left to go

about

In 19th-century France, they're all bad. Witches run amuck, politicians connive, a man in raven face and feathers stokes the flames of revolution, while a mysterious clown-dressed figure pulls strings. In her lavish manor house sits the elegant Lady Midnight, most cunning witch of them all. As a sinister murder plan takes shape, the residents of this small town seem to be in for the worst week of their lives...

ACT I: NEFARIOUS SCHEMES TO MURDER LADY MIDNIGHT is the debut album from Black Dime Cabaret, the first in a trilogy.
